Renting from 500 miles away shouldn't feel like a second job.

Half the rentals you find were leased weeks ago and never taken down. Two of them look like scams. You email six landlords and hear back from one.

So we do it instead. A licensed agent finds what's genuinely available in Hickory, Conover, Newton and the towns around them, confirms the price and terms, and hands you a short list rather than a results page.

We won't tell you where you ought to live — that's your call. We make the market legible: what's available, what it costs, what the drive is, and how fast you can get inside to see it.

  • Full MLS rental access — every lease listing in Canopy MLS, availability and terms confirmed with the listing side before you see it.

  • Off-market and in-house inventory — rentals managed by True North Property Management, plus properties not yet posted publicly.

  • Tours booked for you — one point of contact lines up the whole day's showings instead of you emailing landlords one at a time.

  • Live video walkthroughs — if you're still out of state, we walk the property on camera and answer your questions from inside it.

  • Lease review and negotiation — application requirements, deposits and lease terms explained plainly before you sign anything.

  • A seamless move to buying — when you're ready, the same agent is already there. No starting over.

Moving here from another state? See our relocation service — many people rent first and buy once they know where they want to be. Own a rental instead? True North Property Management takes it from here.

We give you facts about properties — availability, price, terms, square footage, attendance zone, drive times — never opinions about which neighborhoods or schools are "better." That's both the law and how we'd want to be treated.

Four steps, and we do three of them.

Out of state? Step three happens on live video, so you see the place before you commit to it.

  1. Step 1: Tell Us What You Need

One short form or one conversation: budget, move-in date, bedrooms, pets, parking, and the areas you're already considering. We work from your criteria, not ours.

  2. Step 2: We Do the Searching

We verify what is genuinely available right now — including rentals managed in-house by True North — confirm the price and terms with the listing side, and rule out the stale posts and deposit scams before they reach you.

  3. Step 3: Tour with Confidence

We schedule the showings and walk them with you. If you're still out of state, we tour on live video and answer your questions from inside the property — closets, water pressure, noise, parking, all of it.

  4. Step 4: Move In Stress-Free

We walk you through the application, the credit and income requirements, the deposit, and the lease itself — so you know exactly what you're signing before you sign it.

I was born and raised in Hiddenite, NC but am no stranger to the surrounding areas. I am married with three beautiful children. I love DIY projects, home improvement, crafts, painting, and just being able to take something that someone would consider nothing and make it into something. I have worked since I was fifteen years old.

She's the person on the other end of the form: confirming what's genuinely available in Hickory, Conover, Newton and the towns around them, lining up your showings, and staying with you through the application and the lease.

Tell us what you're looking for. We'll find it.

The more you tell us, the fewer places you'll have to look at. Only your name and one way to reach you are required.

Your own preference — we search where you tell us to.

Do you have pets?

Assistance animals — service animals and emotional support animals — are not pets, and a "no pets" property may still be required to accommodate one. You don't need to tell us anything about that here; if it applies to you, we'll help you navigate it.

Are you planning to buy a home in the next 12–24 months?

The questions renters actually ask us.

Can you help me if I'm out of state?+

Yes — that's most of this work. We handle the search and the scheduling here, tour properties on live video so you can see them before you commit, and coordinate the application and lease remotely. Plenty of our rental clients sign before they ever set foot in North Carolina.

What if I want to rent in Hickory now and buy later?+

That's a completely normal plan, and often a smart one. Renting first lets you get to know the area, sort out a job or a school year, and buy when you're ready rather than under pressure. Tell us on the form and the same agent can keep an eye on the sale market for you while you're leasing.

Which areas do you cover?+

We're based in downtown Hickory and search rentals across Catawba County — Hickory, Conover, Newton and Claremont — plus Granite Falls, Lenoir, Morganton, Taylorsville, the Lake Hickory shoreline, and south toward Mooresville, Statesville and Lake Norman. Tell us the towns you're already considering and we'll tell you what's available there, what it costs, and what the drive looks like.

Do you only show rentals True North manages?+

No. We manage a portfolio in-house through True North Property Management, and those are included, but the search covers the wider rental market too.

What does it cost?+

Fees vary by property and by landlord, so we'll tell you plainly what applies to your search before you tour anything. You will never be surprised by a fee at lease signing.

Do you have pet-friendly rentals in Hickory?+

Pet policies are set by each property owner, so we filter on them like any other property attribute — number and type of pets, weight limits, pet deposits. Assistance animals, including service animals and emotional support animals, are not pets under the Fair Housing Act and never limit what we show you.

How quickly will I hear back?+

A member of the team reaches out as soon as they've reviewed your request — usually the same or next business day. If you need to move faster than that, say so on the form and call the office.

Your next home is out there. Let us find it.

Tell us your budget, your timing and the areas you're considering. We'll take the search from here.
